Tapioca flour or also often called starch is one of the flours from cassava extract. Cassava itself has adhesive properties such as ingredients for making glue, and is believed to be able to thicken the lining of the stomach wall which is damaged due to being eroded by excess stomach acid. In addition, starch or tapioca flour is also easily digested by the stomach, so it is suitable for people with ulcers (dyspepsia syndrome), GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease), gastritis, peptic ulcers, cholangitis, and so on. Tapioca flour has several reasons to consider using it as an alternative medicine. Tapioca flour has a relatively cheap price so it is more affordable than having to extract freshly picked cassava yourself. In addition, it is easy to find in shops around. It's also quite easy to make. There are various ways to make alternative medicines from flour, for example by processing it into food ingredients such as baso aci, papeda, and cilok. However, parents prefer to drink it by mixing a few spoons of starch into a glass, then pouring plain water (not boiling water or cold water) up to 1/3 cup, then stirring it evenly and drinking it. The mixture of water and starch does not taste good or is slightly different, if you need to add flavor it is recommended to add brown sugar or brown sugar to taste. Brown sugar or brown sugar itself has good benefits for the stomach, because the sugar is alkaline which is used to reduce acidity levels in the stomach. The use of tapioca flour as an alternative medicine for the stomach has not been clinically tested in depth, although it has sufficiently convincing and proven efficacy in various people, there are still some people who disagree with the use of tapioca flour, perhaps because it is considered not in accordance with the recommendations of some doctors and hygiene. Tapioca flour needs to be further researched and clinically tested so that it can be used as an alternative medicine so that it is not too dependent on medicines and can reduce expenses. This is still being debated in various circles to this day.
